Tax route

The tax route: ATT first, then chartered tax adviser.

ATT is the tax technician qualification and the natural first step for anyone who wants tax rather than general accounting. Every paper here is taught to the same standard as our ACCA papers: taught notes, worked computations, a marked assignment in each module, 120 explained questions and two timed papers.

How the qualification works

You register as a student with the awarding body, sit two core written papers, choose from the optional papers, and complete the three computer-based exams in law, ethics and accounting. Entry and exam fees are set by the awarding body and change — check their current figures before you budget.

Mai Studies is an independent tuition provider. We are not the CIOT or the ATT, we do not award their qualifications, and our certificates are Mai Studies completion certificates. We teach the subject and prepare you for their exams.

After ATT: the CTA route

Most ATT students go on to the chartered tax adviser qualification awarded by the CIOT, often through the joint ATT–CTA pathway. Our advanced tax study support is being written next, and the papers above are the right preparation for it either way.
